About

Basically, people who attend matches do all the hard work - they post snippets of news, scores, subs, etc etc throughout the day/match so other people, who are by a computer or checking on their phone, can keep up to speed. The homepage shows all the news for every team (hence 'around the grounds') for the current day; each team's page shows the most recent day's news and lets you look at historical news too.

How to contribute

Are you an avid follower of your club who attends every game? Want to provide this service for those fans who can't make it, but can get online -- either through their PC or WAP-enabled mobile phone? If the answers are 'yes' and 'yes', then good -- because you can.

If you want to provide updates for your team just mail me letting me know what club you support and I'll give you a username and password, plus instructions on how to access the service. And, err, that's it. Note that you'll need a WAP-enabled phone and preferably GPRS too. If you don't know what these things are, or whether you have them, best find out from a mate or your phone company first. I don't do tech support for phones by email very well I'm afraid :-(

NB: I'm a miserable bastard, and I don't have masses of time to devote to this so as yet you get no chance to customise your pages -- all you can provide is the content, the HTML is up to me. This means you're stuck with this colour scheme and layout and lack of links. Sorry. Maybe if it takes off then I might spend some time making each club's page look a bit more relevant in terms of colours and so on. But hey, at least there's no adverts right? It costs you nothing and you needn't worry what it costs me, but realise that I'll remove access for anyone who I feel is abusing the system. This started off as a way for AFC Wimbledon fans to keep up-to-date, and after a request to help a Dorking fan do the same thing I thought I'd open it up. I won't hesitate to close it down if I have to.

Team policy

Oh, and finally, I don't care who you support or even what sport it is, everyone's welcome. Except -- and they can whinge and moan all they like -- fans of Franchise FC (aka Milton Keynes Dons) simply will not be given access to contribute to this service. Ditto Airdrie United.

Enjoy!
